Diagnose - Competitive Talent Architecture Audit

How do your competitors and the companies you wish to surpass structure the teams you are planning to build?

You can theorise about what a team should look like. Or you can start by investigating what your competitors and the companies you consider best-in-class are doing, and improve on that.

This audit compares three competitors and three comparators that you select. We research how each of them builds the function you are planning for your own business, and report on what we find.

If you are building a function for the first time, or your current function is not delivering the results you need, or you consistently cannot find candidates with the right skills for the work, this audit is built to help you make an informed decision about how to optimise. We do not want you to have to guess. We want to enable you to build a working organisational plan.

What it is

An audit delivering intelligence on the team architecture of one function across three named competitors and three comparators chosen by you. It covers how they have structured their teams, where they have hired, what experience and background those teams hold, which accountabilities are combined and which are deliberately separated, and where each company chose to buy capability rather than build it through internal promotion.

The deliverable is a talent architecture comparison. It is not a candidate list, but an organisational map of your competitors and comparators.

We offer up to two calibration sessions ahead of delivery, so you have early visibility and can submit any emerging questions in time for them to be answered in the final report.

What you get

  • One function compared across six named organisations
  • Up to two calibration meetings, 40 minutes each
  • A report on each target company
  • An architecture comparison specific enough to design against
  • A 60-minute findings presentation call
  • The option to bring the stakeholders you want to the call
  • 20% of the audit fee credited toward Job & Team Architecture Design, the Executive Succession Planning Map or Job Levelling & Competency Matrix Design if booked within 30 days
  • 10% of the audit fee credited toward the same services if booked within 60 days

Buy this when

  • A function is being built for the first time and you want to be strategic about it, and best placed to match competitor capability
  • A hiring plan proposes seats and you want to know the plan is fit for purpose before signing it off
  • You are expanding into a second market where the local structure is unknown
  • A team is not delivering the outcomes you need, and you want a comparative sense-check against competitors and model organisations

When not to buy

Do not buy this if what you want is a candidate list or a compensation benchmark. This audit reads structure. It prepares you to scale your teams intentionally, by showing you what to hire and where, and which skills your competitors are investing in.

How it works

  1. Intro call to discuss your specific objectives.
  2. Quote and timelines provided by Talent Ascent.
  3. If agreed, client portal intake, including the three competitors and three comparators you want researched.
  4. Terms signed and payment schedule agreed.
  5. Two calibration sessions, bookable through the client portal.
  6. Research and structural analysis.
  7. 60-minute findings presentation and report delivery.

Investment

The starting price for your region is on this page: in the panel beside this article, and in the comparison chart below. The exact quote depends on the scope of the function and the complexity of the organisations in it, and is confirmed after the intro call. Each additional function extends the engagement by a week and is quoted on top.

The alternatives, honestly

“An agency will map the market for free.” This audit is not a talent market map. It is a structured competitive intelligence project that maps target organisations globally and analyses their team architecture.

“Our compensation survey covers this.” A survey prices the average pay for role types in a given market. What a GTM expert or a RevOps Lead is accountable for, and exposed to, can vary widely between a legacy business and a scale-up. We look specifically at the organisations you select and at how they built the teams that handle a given mission: where they hire from, what expertise they acquired through their hiring decisions, and how those teams are organised, whether that is global or regional leadership, outsourced, or market-specific.

FAQ

Do we choose the competitors and comparators? You propose them; we test them and tell you if one of them does not have a sufficiently developed team in the specialism you want mapped. If a company has only two employees in that specialism globally, we will flag that before you settle on it as a final choice. If you still want us to research who holds that accountability within their team, we will proceed, but only with your informed consent.

Is anything we submit shared? No. All information is submitted through the client portal and is never disclosed in any other engagement.
