Privacy Notice for Talent Research

Last updated 16 July 2026

Talent Ascent Ltd · Registered in England & Wales, no. 16736436 · 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ · contact@talentascent.io · ICO registration ZC042741

Who this notice is for

This notice is for individuals whose professional information may be included in talent research we conduct for business clients — for example market maps, succession research, organisational benchmarking and talent-landscape analysis. If you are a website visitor or a client, our main Privacy Policy applies instead.

What we collect, and where from

We collect professional-sphere information only: name, current and past roles and employers, professional qualifications and skills, publicly stated professional achievements, business contact details, and location at city/country level. Sources are public and professional: professional networking profiles (such as LinkedIn), company websites and press releases, industry publications, conference and event listings, and public registries. We do not collect special category data (such as health, beliefs, or trade union membership), data about your private life, or data about criminal convictions, and we do not monitor individuals covertly.

Why, and on what legal basis

We process this information under legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)): our clients’ interest in understanding talent markets for workforce planning, organisational design and succession purposes, and our interest in providing professional research services. We have assessed that this low-risk processing of professional-sphere information, from sources where individuals have presented themselves professionally, does not override your rights and freedoms. Research outputs inform our clients’ internal planning; no decision producing legal or similarly significant effects about you is made solely by automated means, and inclusion in research does not itself affect any role you hold.

Why we may not contact you individually

Where notifying every individual in a research population would involve disproportionate effort, or would seriously impair the legitimate and confidential purpose of the research (for example, confidential succession planning), UK GDPR Article 14(5)(b) permits us to instead take protective measures, including making this information publicly available — which is the purpose of this notice.

Who receives it

The commissioning client (under confidentiality obligations restricting use to internal planning), and our service providers used to store and process research data securely. We do not sell personal data, and research about you is not shared with your employer’s competitors beyond the commissioning engagement.

International transfers

We are UK-based. Where a client or provider is outside the UK, transfers are protected by UK adequacy regulations or appropriate safeguards (such as the UK IDTA or Addendum to the EU SCCs).

How long we keep it

Personal data gathered in talent research is retained for no longer than 12 months after delivery of the engagement, after which it is deleted or irreversibly anonymised. Aggregated, non-identifying market statistics may be retained longer.

Your rights

You may ask us to: access the data we hold about you; correct it; erase it; restrict or object to its processing (which we will honour unless compelling legitimate grounds apply); and you may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk). To exercise any right, email contact@talentascent.io. We respond within one month. If you object to inclusion in talent research, we will suppress your details from future research absent compelling grounds.
